Cindy Zampa

Surrounded as I am by the beautiful prairie and mountain landscapes of Alberta, I’m inspired every day to capture the colours and feelings of my experiences. Not only is art a means of communicating, it’s also a powerful tool for healing.

Art heals: I collaborate, create & tell stories with paint.

"How much better is the silence, the coffee cup, t "How much better is the silence, the coffee cup, the table. How much better to sit by myself like the solitary sea-bird that opens its wings on the stake. Let me sit here forever with bare things, this coffee cup, this knife, this fork, things in themselves, myself being myself." - Virginia Woolf, The Waves

How perfectly Woolf captures the essence of the 'still life' and the quiet reflection that we can find when we take a beat and absorb our surroundings.

The inspiration and the outcome, George Seurat edi The inspiration and the outcome, George Seurat edition.

The French painter is most well known for his pointillism technique of painting, famously seen in his large scale piece "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" (picture 3). Here I have interpreted his portrait through the lens of his own distinct style!

The inspo and the outcome, Katherine Switzer editi The inspo and the outcome, Katherine Switzer edition.

The inspiration for this painting is the inspiring Katherine Switzer. In 1967 she registered as a runner in the Boston Marathon. At that time women weren't permitted to partake in the marathon, and so the race co-director chased her down and attempted to pull her number off to keep her from participating as an official competitor. With the help of other runners Switzer managed to get away from her pursuer and finish the race. Images of the incident have since become iconic representations of women's struggle for equality.

In 2015 Switzer started a non-profit called 261 Fearless that promotes women's empowerment through running.
